Ryan Formanek

Lead Experience Designer at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wellmark

I cannot stress enough how incredibly rewarding it is to work with Amy.

Amy joined me on a project at Wellmark that was unfathomably complex and riddled with ambiguity. Where other designers may have pulled back or lamented the road ahead, Amy embraced it. She leaned into discovering more about the motivations of both the project and users while helping the team explore new ways to document our learnings and collaborate. This is what makes Amy such a uniquely gifted designer - she sees the possibility in uncertainty and has the genuine curiosity and drive to help her team realize it.

This flexibility and willingness to lean in was truly invaluable to me as a UX Lead. Tasks big and small were approached with an eye toward quality, thoughtfulness, and a desire to emerge with more knowledge and skill than when she started. This enabled our team to ramp up quickly, identify issues early and refine our process on the fly.

She has talent, drive and curiosity in droves but let's put a cherry on top here - Amy is an absolute unmatched joy to be around. It's infectious. She naturally draws others into her zeal for learning, for problem solving and for simply enjoying and appreciating one another. She is always genuinely interested in her colleagues as people - asking about their hobbies, interests, families. It is an invaluable glue that holds a team together and makes all our work better in the process.

Since parting ways on our initial project, I'm grateful that Amy and I have stayed in touch both personally and professionally. My only complaint about Amy is that I can't carbon copy her or keep her at the hip always. However, I'll settle for the pleasure of watching her continue to grow into an absolute tour-de-force designer and I cannot recommend her enough for anyone so fortunate to have the opportunity."

Paul Eisen

Senior Experience Strategist at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wellmark

I had the privilege of working closely with Amy on a few important initiatives at Wellmark. Amy brings a winning combination of leadership, passion, and inclusivity to coalesce design teams to deliver really effective design solutions. Amy is one of those team players who naturally steps into a leadership role in a way that complements and promotes the value that the other designers, researchers, and strategists bring to the team. Amy loves to orchestrate project and other activities so the spotlight shines on others; and equally happy to fill in the gaps as need to make the whole team successful.

This is a result of some really well-developed qualities: curiosity, sensitivity, organizational strength, desire for growth, and – most importantly – a level of contagious enthusiasm that energizes and inspires the team to do their best. In our collaborations, I’ve been personally inspired by Amy and have witnessed this effect first hand with others. I look forward to the next opportunity I get to work with Amy.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Amy Taylor. Amy is a part of the UX team at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, and she even started several months before me. She radiates happiness and brightens the day of everyone around her. Amy's contribution to our success cannot be overstated. She is an irreplaceable asset to us over the past year that I've worked with her.
Amy is a reliable and trustworthy coworker who performs all her duties exemplary while still finding time to train and mentor new hires and junior employees of the team.

She played a crucial role in saving one of our projects. Without her assistance, it would have been challenging to resolve this incident as quickly and efficiently as we did. Amy stepped in and created three user journey maps in less than two days; this impressed me.

Amy is a great problem solver. I admire her diligence, ability to fill the room with sunshine, and her focus. I strongly recommend Amy; she has a great attitude and shows excellent initiative. If you have any more inquiries or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me.

Pinakee Naik

UX Researcher at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wellmark

I worked with Amy on a team where I was a UX Researcher and she was the UX Design lead. To say it was the most seamless experience, would be an understatement. Amy has a keen eye for detail and always does a great job of translating user insights into impactful and functional designs. Amy's ability to lead and facilitate a discussion stood out as most remarkable to me. Her candor and honesty about feasibility of user expectations greatly helped the team shape the most effective solutions for our users. Working with her has been the most joyful and enriching experience. I would strongly recommend that everyone has a chance to work with her. There is so much to learn from her!

Dennis Schleicher

UX Team Lead at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wellmark

It is my pleasure to provide this letter of recommendation for Amy Taylor. I had the opportunity to work with Amy directly during her contract with Wellmark BCBS of Iowa as an UX Designer in 2021. She was excellent in design reviews and garnered rave reviews from the executive level and was seen as someone with high potential. Amy has a deserved reputation as a collaborative team player and was shifted around on multiple different programs and was able to quickly get up to speed and build relationships. As she shifted off programs that were going on-pause she was able to “wrap-up” effectively and efficiently so when they might be started again the future designers would have an organized corpus. Amy regularly attended and contributed to critiques. In that year she grew as a leader and organizer of remote meetings and working sessions.

I highly recommend Amy Taylor for any UX or CX position.
